Hobbling down the main road, dragging my left<\/p>\n
foot which aches from walking home all day –<\/p>\n
Walk, walk, walk. Stop, say hello and keep on walking.<\/p>\n
The shrubs up ahead \u2013<\/p>\n
silhouetted strangers waiting patiently for<\/p>\n
the bus that comes hourly after 7PM \u2013<\/p>\n
but then they\u2019re shrubs again<\/p>\n
Comforted by a musicless night,<\/p>\n
the breadth of a dog passes me by in short puffs \u2013<\/p>\n
It looks like the muted clouds above me.<\/p>\n
Silent, with an occasional interruption by the sound of<\/p>\n
wheels on pavement \u2013<\/p>\n
I\u2019m hit by deja vu \u2013 I\u2019ve walked<\/p>\n
at this exact time, noticed the stars<\/p>\n
and named the constellations we know<\/p>\n
But that was a year ago, and<\/p>\n
this time I walk alone \u2013 dragging my left foot.<\/p>\n
